EARRINGS and Body Piercings
Evil spirits, based on information from Magical Arts, were thought to
be able to enter the human body through any of its openings and take control.
The first earrings were probably worn to bar the way to these spirits
and so was the use of lipstick originally.
Earrings are rings that are worn in the ears. Piercing the lobes to
allow the wearing of earrings is a very ancient practice still extant today.
This piercing of the flesh is mentioned in LEV 19:28 along with
the issue of tattoos, etc.
Most body parts have been pierced for various and sundry magical and
“religious” reasons throughout the ages. Ears may have been among the first to
be pierced, along with the nose, which is still pierced in INDIA for protective
as well as cosmetic reasons.
Folklore abounds this practice of piercing. Pierced earrings in general
are often recommended to strengthen weak eyes and if set with emeralds
they become very effective, so some say. Gold earrings are worn many times by people
who wish to cure headaches. Others will wear one gold and one silver earring
for the same purpose.
GEN 35:2-4 ..So Jacob said to his household and to
all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods which are among you, and
purify yourselves and change your garments; and let us arise and go up to Bethel,
and I will make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my
distress and has been with me wherever I have gone.” So they gave to Jacob all
the foreign gods which they had and the RINGS
which were in their ears, and Jacob hid them under the oak which was near
Shechem.
When Jacob’s household was ready to seek God, they got rid of all their earrings and idols. What people fail to realize is that Satan is a total liar and a deceiver. Instead of these piercing items protecting an individual from evil spirits they actually attract the evil spirits and problems occur.
HOSEA 2:13 …”I will punish her for the days of the BAALS when she used to offer
sacrifices to them, and adorn herself with her EARRINGS and jewelry, and
follow her lovers, so that she ‘forgot Me,’ declares the Lord.”
1 TIMOTHY 2:9-10 …Likewise
I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not
with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means
of good works, as is proper for women making a claim for godliness.
There is a
time coming when the LORD will dress His bride and adorn her with jewels of
many sorts. In the meantime it is not good to void scripture and “cut the
flesh” to insert rings into any part of the body. In deliverance ministry there
are documented cases where Bell’s Palsy and female troubles have resulted from
women using pierced earrings. Not in every case … but why take a chance and
play with danger! One can only imagine what is happening to men who cut their
flesh and insert rings.
